- Preheat oven to 150°C.
- Melt butter and golden syrup over a gentle heat. Add boiling water mixed with bicarbonate of soda.
- Pour into mixed dry ingredients and blend well.
- Drop teaspoons of mixture onto greased trays and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on trays for a few minutes.
- Remove and cool further on racks. Store in airtight containers.

Ingredients
- 125g butter
- 1 tbs golden syrup
- 2 tbs boiling water
- 1½ tsps bicarbonate of soda
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup sugar
