Everyone loves a summer barbeque and we’re throwing our own at Prahran Market at our first ever Sizzlefest!
Celebrating all things Barbecue, Sizzlefest will take place on Sunday 3rd February 2019 at Prahran Market.
We’ve included our annual Sausage Tasting Competition in the event, with the butchers and poulterers of Bracher Arcade vying for the coveted prize – and YOU help us decide by tasting and voting. It’s FREE to vote, and once you’ve voted, you’re up for a chance to WIN in our prize-draw. More details on that soon…
SIZZLEFEST includes all sorts of grill-spiration from across the market – including tastes and eats that include meat, seafood, and meat-free.
In Market Square you can take in the sights and smells of all sorts of barbecuing, including Chef Bente Grysbaek showing you how to cook over a fire, with our very own fire pit in Market Square. Bente specialises in cooking “Off the Grid” without power, in harmony with nature, and with minimal waste, harnessing the deep personal connection that lies in food cooked over fire.
Alongside Bente, we’ll also have demonstrations from some of our Traders that you definitely won’t want to miss.
Never cooked on Salt Bricks? The Essential Ingredient will be demonstrating grilling on Salt Bricks using Gary’s Meats Saltbush lamb as well as some delicious meat-free tastes in front of their store (11:30am-1:30pm).
Uncertain how to tackle octopus? Prahran Seafoods will be demonstrating how to prepare and grill these at home.
We’ll have Tobie Puttock here talking Tips with these Traders and more in Market Square on the day to help you take your home grill-game to a whole new level.
There will be eats and tastes around the Market to keep you satisfied, including:
Blackhearts & Sparrows: Selection of wines by the bottle or glass in front of their store – for sale
The Mussel Pot: Mussels on the BBQ – for sale
Prahran Seafoods: Barbecued Octopus (skewer) & Barbecued Salmon (Skewer) – for sale
Paddlewheel: Grilled fresh Kooweerup Sweet Corn on the cob – for sale

Not to mention our usual weekend line-up of deliciousness from your favourite Market Traders.
