If you’re planning on spending time together with loved ones to remember the Queen on Thursday 22 September, here’s a quick round-up of where you can get your Market produce for the perfect afternoon tea.
Tea
If you’re running low on tea or looking to try a new blend of flavours, The Essential Ingredient on Elizabeth St has a great range of herbal and loose leaf teas available. And if you’re a lover of both coffee and tea, Market Lane’s Cascara Coffee and Coffee Flower teas will be your new go-to brews.
Sweet Treats
Pick up a few decadent desserts from our Market eateries and bakeries. You’ll find indulgent Rocky Road and gluten-free cakes filling the window at Sweet Greek and petit gateau that are almost too pretty to eat at Stir the Pot, freshly-made Portuguese tarts at Noisette Bakery, and buttery flaky pastries at Q Le Baker.
The perfect grazing platter
Thinking of putting together a grazing platter on Thursday? Our Deli Traders have you covered. First, pick out a selection of gourmet cheeses (we recommend a brie, a blue and a hard cheese, possibly a cheddar). Next you’ll need a fruit paste, such as quince paste, which you can find from The Cheese Shop Deli.
Gourmet lavosh/crackers are a must or some nice crusty bread from Pete N Rosie’s Deli, and we’d suggest getting colourful dips to share from Naheda’s Choice, like beetroot or chunky chilli.
Cold meats such as prosciutto, salami, turkey, ham are all great accompaniments for the cheese and of course, the bread. Find yours from the window at Barossa Fine Foods or Cleo’s Deli.
Finally, head to Harvest Hall to our expert fruiterers and pick up some juicy fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, mango, grapes and raspberries. These fruits will help to add a pop of colour to your platter, and if you’re looking to up the decadence, why not pop in some dark chocolate from the Sweet and Nut Shop?
The Market will be open from 7am-5pm on Thursday 22 September, so pop by to pick up all your last-minute afternoon tea essentials from our Traders.
