Cooking the perfect omelette
Alice in Frames shares her sure fire method for cooking the perfect omelette, every time.
The key is starting off with beautifully fresh, free range eggs- they are the hero of the dish after all.
For cooking the perfect omelette, you’ll need:
- a small fry pan
- 2 fresh free range eggs
- knob of quality butter
- marinated feta (or a cheese of your choice)
- freshly chopped herbs- we’ve used parsley
- sea salt and pepper to season
- Crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk with fork vigorously- you want that mixture to be light and fluffy and thoroughly combined. Add in a pinch of salt.
- Put your fry pan over a medium high heat.
- Melt your knob of butter in the fry pan- once it’s melted and foaming, pour in your egg mixture- it should bubble up immediately and the edges should begin to set.
- Crumble some delicious marinated feta and parsley over the centre.
- Keep the eggs moving! Using a spatula, move the cooked egg mixture towards the centre and move the fry pan around so the raw mixture makes its way to the edges.
- Continue doing this until it’s all cooked.
- Use the spatula to gently fold your omelette and then slide out of the pan onto your plate
- Crumble over some more delicious marinated feta, some more herbs and sprinkle over some freshly cracked pepper
